Honestly, you would think that it was time to pack a bag and leave the Coachella Valley just because it’s getting a little toasty outside. Many businesses are starting their hibernation dance… canceling media, changing business hours, and acting like there is NO business to be found for four, long, months.
Well, to that I say BALDERDASH. Nonsense, utterly untrue and clearly a complete lack of vision. I’m still here, as is the FGC staff and most of our vendors. And our clients. There are over 200 shops and restaurants on El Paseo that do not close for Summer, and guess what? They are offering great deals for those hardy souls that make an effort. Happy hour menus that are frankly, amazing. Shopping sales that make TJ Maxx look expensive. And not just on El Paseo… at the Mall, in La Quinta, uptown Palm Springs and all over! Less and less of our businesses close for the summer, and more and more business is being done.
But guess what? You (the business owner) must make an effort to alert the Valley regulars that you are here! And open. And ready to do business. On top of the locals, there will be lots and lots of weekenders here from the drive-markets since that ol’ reliable June Gloom will be kicking in any day now.
And let’s not forget those traveling tourists from Europe and other exotic ports o’ call
… they LOVE hot desert locales!
So your mission, should you choose to accept it, is to stay open and stay talking about your business. Use traditional media (summer rates are in effect!), add in online marketing (social media posting, paid campaigns), update your website, start a blog (!)… get a little wild and crazy and INVITE the Valley into your world. Won’t it be nice to be surprised by the results??!
