Yep, it’s true. Over the last few months, I’ve found a new passion for integrating Twitter into my social media life. Initially, Facebook satisfied all of my desires to chat with my selected universe, share photos, connect with past school chums, and meet new people with like-minded hobbies and beliefs.
That is, until last July, when I innocently posted this tweet after seeing the new movie, REDS 2 and hanging out at the shooting range with my cute hubby…
Loved the new #RED2 movie! Especially since I just got done shooting an AR 15 just like @HelenMirrenDame
Within moments, Dame Helen RESPONDED to my tweet! Thanked me for the tweet and the review… I was floored! So I tried it again, after a nice pharmacist at WalMart helped me out with a migraine pill when I thought I was dying, and yes, Walmart answered immediately! And then again with American Airlines, CostCo and so many more. Today, I had that pesky “Low Tire Pressure” light pop on, yet again, on my sassy sports car, so I pulled into America’s Tire where they fixed it right up! So I tweeted about it, and YES, they retweeted, favorited it and answered me.
I have also tweeted about poor customer service, with a positive spin, and been answered by those companies too. I am impressed that the large companies actual monitor and respond to these random @ and # tweets! Note to self and FGC staff: we’re checking this for our clients, right?? Yes, yes we are!
And just like Facebook, the more you interact with the tweeting universe, the more fun you can have with it. And isn’t it supposed to be fun? After Ellen Degeneres shut down Twitter with her Oscar Selfie and the retweets, I really starting assessing the medium and the options I had to make it more interesting. The best advice I have for people who want to see their Twitter feed get instantly more exciting is to follow as many fun people and businesses as you can, favorite other peoples tweets, and retweet comments that speak to you and resonate. You’ll be instantly amazed at how much fun you can have, and how many new, interesting people pop up on your feed. It’s all about how many eyeballs are checking out your posts/tweets, right? So go get ‘em.

Today’s best Twitter hit was when I got the notification that McKenzie Westmore, the host of Face Off, began following me! I’ve been tweeting about the show but had not thought to follow her… she beat me to it! WOW… loving this platform now!
While there are other fun platforms out there, like Pinterest and Instagram, these 2 platforms seem to work the best for me right now. I still love Facebook, and one of my new
addictions is the group, As Seen Through Horses Ears (https://www.facebook.com/groups/ASTHE/) where horsey people post photos atop their steed, showcasing fantastic scenery around the world! I feel like I’ve now ridden in Sweden, Australia, New Zealand, the UK, the Netherlands and all across America. Compelling and gorgeous. Here’s a shot I took in 2005, riding out on my new mare, Annie, with the dogs into the Palm Springs desert… check out that page and you’ll see vistas that are unbelievably beautiful!
So what are your favorite social mediums, how do you interact and enjoy them, and what are some tips you’ve discovered about this new and intriguing communication tool that has changed our world forever more? Please share!
Then follow me on Facebook & Twitter and I’ll return the favor… the more the merrier!
