International Women's Day

Hi everyone,

Natalie from FG Creative here! Happy International Women’s day a few days ago!

It was such a wonderful day of women empowering women, and because I work in a mostly all women office (sorry, Jeff) I wanted to ask the ladies their thoughts on what it means to be a a woman.

Stephanie:

I was lucky enough to be raised by a Dad who told me I could be anything I wanted if I learned and tried, just like he did.  He never saw a difference between men and women, it was all about trying and never giving up.  And by a Mom who achieved great success and was a pioneer in the world of computers, and taught me that the glass ceiling only deflected the faint of heart.  And I was blessed to meet and marry a man who always has my back, encourages me to fly, and holds me when I fall.  My first boss was a strong woman, who encouraged me to keep striving for excellence, and gave me encouragement to become a business owner.  People are equal when the drive and dedication to achieve higher levels is just business as usual. marilyn monroe

Cindy:

My thoughts are..........

Being compassionate, caring and giving.  Putting others before myself..... and of course, getting to wear fabulous clothes!!!  :-) cindy

Tricia:

I love the duality of being a woman. I'm at the same time strong and sensitive. Assertive and gentle. Nurturing of others, indulgent of myself. I'm smart and I'm witty and I don't have to hide or shrink that to be perceived as sexy, because a woman with a brilliant mind IS sexy.

To sum up my thoughts in quote form:

"A girl should be two things: classy and fabulous." - Coco Chanel and and "If you retain nothing else, always remember the most important rule of beauty, which is: who cares?" - Tina Feytricia

Chelsea:

I love working in an office full of smart, strong, amazing women. And I also love being a woman because it has allowed me to be a mom to my two boys, Skylar and Rhyus.chelsea sons

Talie:

I love being a woman! I am a mother, a daughter, a sister and a friend. Being a woman means maintaining a beautiful balance between my logical/practical mind and my creative/intuitive mind. When the two are in sync, I feel fearless and unstoppable. It means being able to "fall in love" with our clients, while still maintaining professionalism and producing results. Sometimes it means a hug, instead of a handshake. Sometimes it means a late night phone call with a client who needs immediate help. Sometimes it's as simple as being present and reassuring with a client who is diving into uncharted territory.

“At the end of the day, I am a woman. I was married very young, divorced very young, was a single mother very young. And I remember how important it was for me to be independent, to have my own money, to be able to give my son all the things that I wanted. I know how important it was for me to be able to create my own business. And now that I can empower other women, it's like I have to. It's like I'm supposed to try to encourage other women, to be able to empower them so that they can also be free.” – Sofia Vergaratalie

Natalie:

I love being a woman, and although I am still figuring out exactly what that means to me I know that I am a daughter, grand-daughter, sister, and friend. Without the strong woman in my life, I don’t know where I would be. I am lucky to have wonderful girlfriends that lift each other up, a mom who raised me for many years alone, a little sister who looks up to me, and many more. These relationships have inspired and continue to inspire me to be the best version of myself.natalie
